 My experience as a distance learner has been one for the books. With being a distance learner I have lost that hands-on experience that I am beyond accustomed to by this point in my academic career. I don't have the ability to formulate that one-on-one bond with my teachers like I usually do. I do however enjoy the freedom of being able to have more freedom. I don't have to be restrained and tied down in a classroom for several hours out of the week where I could be working to earn some extra funds. To improve the experience of distance learners as a teacher I could allow activities that help everyone to feel more connected. 

Open educational resources are some of the best resources created. Using these resources allow students to be able to have access to resources that help to strengthen their educational paths without all those expensive fees. With going to school I frequently say that schools charge too much to do good things. I believe the best open educational resources are online because they are easier to navigate and use. The OER I found was academic earth.org and it was chosen because it exposes the public to more exclusive information such as lectures and videos from some of the most respected instructors in the entire world. https://academicearth.org/

Skills that I've been able to acquire from working on the two PowerPoint assignments were adding audio to the slides and putting more effort into design. Adding in audio allows for the presentation to run smoother and already have a structured pattern to it. The design and set up of the presentation allow for a better aesthetic presentation to be formulated. There was nothing I didn't like about each of the assignments. I enjoyed that this was something that wasn't completely foreign to me.

  My initial thought and experience with using Diigo was “I hope this is easy to navigate so that I can pass.” I was happy to see that it was and was actually a nice resource. The only aspect that I disliked was  My experience with blogging was nice. I mentioned that at the beginning of class I’ve always wanted to start blogging my life. Blogging allowed me to keep an exact track of information, dates and much more. During the blogging process I’ve learned to enjoy being organized and in order.  An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I would consider using as a teaching tool would be YouTube. For me youtube would make things so much easier. Students could get the videos perspective at their own pace and then gather their own. This would allow for elaboration which I believe is most important in the classroom.

For me, I definitely use Twitter the least of all my social media platforms. I was using it as a means of contacting friends who also use it. I felt for a while that Twitter was just a waste of space so I just deleted the app completely. Since re-downloading the app I have found a purpose for the app. I am happy that I can now use it for a more professional means of communication with others.  The digital divide affects student success in schools by favouring those with access and placing those without access at a disadvantage. The digital divide is caused by some students having what others lack. I know that with being a teacher there will be many students and each will be different in their own way. I also have to expect the difference some of their at-home circumstances will vary.
